FEEDBACK:
Although most members of the public managed to get a brief glimpse of
Mars on the 23rd, the clouds descended and there were no more clear
skies for another 6 nights! However, the media did their job for the day
of closest approach and the public turned out at the observatory under a
thick blanket of cloud. On Friday 29th at least 150 people turned up at
the observatory with a 3 hour queue forming. It was hectic but all went
away satisfied and impressed with the views of Mars and other celestial
objects. Everyone worked hard but in the end "it was worth it."

A successful NAW. Although the 28th was cloudy, the 29th was clear and
some 50 to 60 visitors turned up to view Mars and other celestial
objects. Hopefully there will be a few more members of HERAS.

A fantastic response to NAW after several months of hard work planning
for the event. There were excellent views of the Sun and on the 29th and
30th the night skies were clear with terrific views of Mars through the
3 telescopes available. Over 300 people visited on these 2 nights alone.
More than 800 people visited in all with prospective new members among
them.

Webcam link to a Meade LX200 10". Adults £2, Under 16's FREE

FEEDBACK:
The weather on the 29th could not have been better. Over sixty visitors
turned up and everyone saw Mars either directly through a telescope or
via a computer screen. Eventually the public left at about 11pm but
images of Mars were taken by the members until 2am. The 30th was as well
attended but thin cloud made the viewing poorer. However, everyone got
to see Mars at least. Almost 150 people turned up over the 2 nights and
along with the displays and solar viewing at the Sheffield show on the
24th and 25th it was a great week.
